LaVera “Jean” Ritter, 74, a resident of Bettendorf, Iowa died on Thursday, April 19, 2007 at Genesis Medical Center, West Campus in Davenport, Iowa.
Her funeral service will be held at 10:00 A.M. Monday, April 23, 2007 at the McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Chapel, Bettendorf. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 9:00 A.M. to 10:00 A.M. Monday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Heritage Freewill Baptist Church of Davenport where she was a member or to the American Lung Association.
She was born January 25, 1933 in Leeton, Missouri, the daughter of Eugene “Ralph” & Mary “Opal” (Huffman) Rice. Jean graduated from Leeton High School. On June 15, 1954, she was united in marriage to Bobbie B. Ritter in Leeton, Missouri. They enjoyed 52 years of marriage.
Jean was a loving wife, mother and grand-mother and loved the Lord. She helped with the PTA, Brownies, taught Sunday school, was in the Women’s Missionary Society, loved to cook and sew and enjoyed listening to Strauss waltzes. She enjoyed being active in her church and listening to Southern gospel music. She was an avid fan of the St. Louis Cardinals baseball team, was an accomplished seamstress and loved her cocker spaniel Max.
Those left to honor her memory include her husband, Bob; her daughters, Kathy Ritter of Bettendorf and DeeDee (Mike) Heard of LeClaire, Iowa; her son, Bob G. (Chris) Ritter of Davenport; her grandchildren, Jacob, Joshua & Ashley Ritter and Clay & Elizabeth Heard; and her brothers, Raymond Rice of Warrensburg, Missouri and Robert (Anabelle) Baker of Bella Vista, Arkansas; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
