Lavern Stubbe

June 30, 1925 — December 29, 2016

Lavern H. “Dudy” Stubbe, 91, a resident of Davenport, formerly of Pleasant Valley, died Thursday, December 29, 2016 at the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House in Bettendorf.

A memorial service celebrating his life will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, January 2, 2017 at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Burial will be at Pleasant Valley Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church in Pleasant Valley or Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House.

Born on June 30, 1925 in Pleasant Valley, Lavern was the son of Harry and Rowena (Johnson) Stubbe. On October 8, 1949 in DeWitt, Iowa, he married Helen Schumacher.

Lavern worked in maintenance for Lunex / Rockingham Machine in Pleasant Valley for many years. Prior to that, he worked for Mohr Brothers Implement in Bettendorf. He was a member of the Pleasant Valley Fire Department for over 30 years and a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Pleasant Valley. Lavern enjoyed gardening, fishing, hunting, woodworking and listening to Lawrence Welk.

Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Helen; daughter, Jacqueline (Ray) Andrews of LeClaire; daughter-in-law, Linda Stubbe of Davenport; Jennifer (Bob Overton) Stubbe, Christopher Stubbe and Anna (David) Heidenreich; great-grandchildren, Miah Overton, Gavin and Paxton Heidenreich; and a brother, David (Mable) Stubbe of Littleton, Colorado.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one son, Douglas Stubbe.
