Lawrence "Chubbs" Mcfate

Lawrence Allen "Chubbs" McFate, 57, of Bettendorf, Iowa, passed away on Sunday, November 8, 2015 at his home.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 P.M., Friday, November 13, 2015 at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf.  Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the services on Friday at the funeral home.  Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park.  Memorials may be made to Princeton (Iowa) Presbyterian Church or to the family to benefit his grandson, Blake.

Larry was born March 6, 1958 in Davenport, Iowa, the son of Larry and Ellen (Kerr) McFate.  He was raised in Princeton, Iowa, attended North Scott High School and worked for the City of Bettendorf.  He married Sheryl and they had one son, Shaun.

Chubbs loved anything to do with cars, washing and waxing many friend’s and family's cars over the years. He washed his own car 3 or 4 times a week; after a rain he would always wipe his car down.

He leaves behind a loving family; his mother Ellen (Bettendorf), brother Dennis (Bettendorf), brother Loren and wife Patti (Davenport), brother Dino and wife Deb (Davenport) and sister Sue Brown and husband Fred (Moline). He has one grandson, Blake, nieces to include Lori, Jodi, Jill, Sarah, Jennifer, and Tracy, and nephews Tim, David, Chris, and Austin. He also has several great nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, his son, Shaun and his brother, Terry McFate.
