Leah R. Martensen, 63, a resident of Bettendorf, Iowa passed away on Tuesday, June 25, 2024 at the Clarissa Cook Hospice House in Bettendorf after a long and courageous battle with cancer.

She was born on August 4, 1960, in Davenport, Iowa, the daughter of Jasper Leo and Nancy (Cole) Hughes and was a graduate of Davenport Central High School.
Leah was employed in heath care as a hospital scheduler and other in-house administrative services.
She was a gifted and accomplished singer, songwriter and fluid artist. Leah had recorded four original albums, toured for years as a gospel singer and sang with the Christian Divas all over the world.
Even though she endured many years of this rare form of cancer, she served as a group leader and advisor for the board of the Neuroendocrine Cancer Awareness Network. Her energy and inspiration to others will always be remembered and appreciated by many. She was also heavily involved in “Celebrate Recovery” assisting others as they worked to overcome a variety of addictions.
Leah was an adventurous person who loved to travel, especially when the destination included a beach and palm trees.
Those left to honor her memory include her “favorite brother, L.P.” Leo (Kristine) Hughes of Colona, Illinois and several nieces and nephews.
Leah was preceded in death by her parents.
