Leland (Lee) C. Flick, 58, a resident of Bettendorf, Iowa died on Sunday, December 4, 2011 at the Clarissa Cook Hospice House in Bettendorf after a courageous year-long battle with a brain tumor.

The family will greet friends from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. on Wednesday, December 28, 2011 at Trinity Lutheran Church of Pleasant Valley, Iowa where Lee was a member. A brief service will follow at 7:00 P.M. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Clarissa Cook Hospice House of Bettendorf. McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home of Bettendorf is assisting Lee’s family with arrangements.

He was born in Clinton, Iowa on April 1, 1953, the beloved son of Conrad A. & Dolores (Rhodenbaugh) Flick. Lee graduated from Bettendorf High School in 1971 and from Iowa State University in 1975 where he was president of the Phi Kappa Psi Fraternity. On September 24, 1977, he was united in marriage to Kerry L. Davis in Pleasant Valley.

Lee & his family owned and operated Flick’s on State St. in Bettendorf for many years. He was an active sponsor and coach for the Bettendorf Park Board Youth Baseball Program and volunteered as a scoreboard operator for the Bettendorf High School football games. He & his dog, Sadie, loved to visit area nursing homes and the University of Iowa Children’s Hospital in Iowa City. Lee will always be remembered for his dry sense of humor and his warm smile. The sadness of his loss will affect many, but the memories he left will remain forever in the hearts of those who knew & loved him.

Those left to honor his memory include his daughters, Annalee Flick & Brookanne Flick, both of Los Angeles, California; his brothers, Conrad (Lynn) Flick and Dennis Flick, all of Bettendorf; ten nieces and nephews and his friend & former wife, Kerry Flick of Bettendorf. Family members also include Mickey Davis of Bettendorf, Jill Venjohn of Charleston, South Carolina, Todd Van Hoosier of Beverly Hills, California and Tammy Van Hoosier of Bettendorf.

His parents preceded him in death.
