Lee F. Stockwell, 73, a resident of Bettendorf, Iowa died Thursday, August 2, 2012 at Manor Care, Davenport.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, August 6, 2012 at the McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home, Bettendorf, Iowa. Visitation will be held from 2:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M. on Sunday at the funeral home. Burial with military honors will be in the Rock Island National Cemetery, Rock Island, Illinois. Memorials may be made to the family.
Lee was born February 8, 1939 in Algona, Iowa the son of Lemuel and Louise (Callies) Stockwell. He grew up in Titonka, Iowa where he graduated from Titonka High School in 1956. He served in the United States Marine Corps from 1956 to 1958 and spent the next four years in the USMC Reserves. He was united in marriage to Georgia Kruse on August 20, 1960 in Worthington, Minnesota.
Lee owned a bakery in Pocahontas, Iowa for many years and later became the manager of manufacturing for Chef Pierre in Mississippi. He also worked for Sara Lee in Iowa and Michigan and was plant manager for Foxtail Foods, Fairfield, Ohio. In his free time he enjoyed golfing and being with his grandchildren.
Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Georgia Stockwell, Bettendorf; his daughter, Melissa (Andy) McMahon, Bettendorf; his son, Lance (Amy) Stockwell, Bettendorf; his grandchildren Ashley, Erin, Addison and Garrett; his sister Patricia Haines, Titonka, Iowa and his brother, Jerry Stockwell, Modesto, California.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Priscilla Earl.
