Leo A. Conklin Jr., 81, a resident of Bettendorf, Iowa died Monday, February 21, 2011 at Genesis Medical Center, East Campus, Davenport, Iowa.
As per his wishes services will be private. Memorials may be made to the Disabled American Veterans.
Leo was born November 8, 1929 in Davenport, Iowa the son of Leo A. and Helen (Phillippsen) Conklin Sr. He was united in marriage to Hester Jane French on September 25, 1948 in Davenport, Iowa. She preceded him in death June 15, 2007.
Leo served his country as a toxic gas handler in the United States Army during World War II.
He enjoyed puzzles, movies, flying his airplane and many other things in his life.
Those left to honor his memory include his granddaughters, Brittany Conklin, Bettendorf, Iowa, Bridget Conklin, Eldridge, Iowa and Jessica Conklin, New York; his sister, Sandra Lettermoser, California; his brother, Jack (Jenny) Conklin, California and his dear friends, Teddie and Brian Boeh, Eldridge, Iowa.
In addition to his wife he was preceded in death by his son, Timothy Conklin, several siblings and his beloved cat, Bubba.
