Leona May Willis, 93, a resident of LeClaire, Iowa died on Sunday, June 14, 2009 at Trinity Pathway Hospice in Bettendorf, Iowa.
Family and friends are invited to join for her services at 1:00 P.M. Thursday, June 18, 2009 in the chapel of Davenport Memorial Park. There will be no visitation. McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home of Bettendorf is assisting the family with arrangements.
She was born in Davenport, Iowa on August 10, 1915 the daughter of Alonzo & Maudie Maybell (Ensley) Fosdyck. She was united in marriage to George C. Willis in Davenport on July 9, 1934. He preceded her in death in February of 1996.
Leona was a devoted mother & homemaker and was an accomplished singer in earlier years.
Those left to honor her memory include her daughter, Donna May (Esley) Schave of Port Byron, Illinois; her sons, William E. “Bill” Willis in Virginia and Greg Willis of LeClaire; her grandchildren; Winnifer Elvidge, Rosemary Vaccaro, Davonna Brown, Laura Sierra, Linnea Willis, Mark Trimble; three step-grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; many great-great-grandchildren; her sister, Joyce of Davenport; a niece who cared for Leona for the past seven years, Janet Francine of Davenport and a very special friend, John Kautz of LeClaire.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Noah Willis and ten sisters & brothers.
