Leroy A. "Red" Lueders, 83, a resident of Bettendorf, Iowa died Thursday, February 5, 2004 at Genesis Medical Center, East Campus in Davenport, Iowa.
Private family funeral services will be held. There will be no visitation. Contribution in his memory may be made to Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Bettendorf. McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home, Bettendorf is assisting the family with arrangements.
He was born February 1, 1921 in Davenport, the son of William & Alvina Lueders. On February 23, 1952, he was united in marriage to Alice M. Claeys in Moline, Illinois. Alice preceded him in death on August 17, 2003.
Leroy was employed at the American Water Company in Davenport for 33 years, retiring in 1983.
During World War II, he served in the U.S. Army-Air Corps with the 246th AAF Base Unit. Upon his honorable discharge in 1946, he was awarded the American Campaign Medal, the Good Conduct Medal and the World War II Victory Medal.
He is survived by his daughter, Linda Lee Lueders of Bettendorf.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his brother, Earl Lueders
