LeRoy B. “Bud” Hoffmann, 86, a resident of rural Donahue, Iowa died unexpectedly on Wednesday, October 27, 2004 at Genesis Medical Center, East Campus in Davenport, Iowa.
There will be no visitation or funeral. Private family services will be held at the Rock Island National Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Donahue Volunteer Fire Department or to the Donahue American Legion Post 532. Chambers Funeral Home, Eldridge, Iowa is assisting the family with arrangements.
He was born December 22, 1917 on the family farm in Donahue, the son of Henry G.& Jennie I. (Snyder) Hoffmann. On April 12, 1940, he was united in marriage to Lovell D. Miller in Davenport.
During World War II, he served in the U.S. Army with the798th MP Batallion in Tunisia. He was honorably discharged as a sergeant in 1945 and was awarded the Bronze Star for the Tunisian Campaign and the Good Conduct Medal.
Bud was a life-long farmer in rural Donahue. He was a member of the Scott County Farm Bureau and a life-member of the Donahue American Legion Post #532.
He loved to bowl, enjoyed reading and playing cards.
Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Lovell; his daughter & son-in-law, Carole & Michael Stoner of East Moline, Illinois; his son & daughter-in-law, Mike & Julie Hoffmann of Donahue; his grandchildren, Scott Hoffmann of Eldridge and Dana Mosnik & her husband, Steve of Marion, Iowa; his great-granddaughter, Jenna Mosnik; his sisters, Eileen Wuestenberg and Marilyn Speth; and his brothers & sisters-in-law, Duane & Adeline Hoffmann and Allan & Jeannette Hoffmann.
Bud was preceded in death by his brother, Lloyd; and by two infant sisters.
