Leslie Newton Mathenia

Memorial services for Leslie Newton Mathenia, 74, of Bettendorf, will be 3:00 pm on Friday, July 12, 2024, at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home, Bettendorf. Family will greet friends on Friday from 2:00 pm to service time at the funeral home.

Leslie passed away on Saturday, June 29, 2024 at St. Mary Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center, Davenport. 

Leslie Newton Mathenia was born on November 10, 1949 in Staunton, IL, the son of Paul and Verna Mae (Williams) Mathenia. He married Marian “Judy” Linebaugh on December 9, 1975 in Tampa, FL. She preceded him in death on October 31, 2023. Leslie worked as a computer programer for CDS Global, Wilton, IA, for 30 years, retiring in 2021. He was a member of Hope Church, Bettendorf, IA. 

Survivors include his son, Paul (Regina) Mathenia of Park View, IA, his father, Paul Mathenia of Staunton, IL, his grandchildren, Jace, of Park View, IA, Shawn Wasp, William Wasp and Sara Wasp, all of Charlotte, NC, his sister, Mel Hernandaz of TX, and brother, Gary (Rosie) Mathenia of Staunton, IL. 

He was preceded in death by his mother, his wife, and step-daughter, Heather.
