Lewis Laughead

Lewis E. Laughead, 86, of Bettendorf, passed away Tuesday August 6, 2013 at Bettendorf Health Care Center.

Private family services will be held at Faith United Presbyterian Church Chapel with burial in Warren County Memorial Park in Monmouth, IL.

Lewis was born July 4, 1927 in Alexis, IL, the son of Henry and Olive (Johnson) Laughead.  He moved to Monmouth at age 10, and later moved to Bettendorf in 2001.  On November 12, 1948 he married Jane McKelvey in Monmouth, IL.  Lewis and Jane were married for 64 years.  Lewis was a carpenter and retired from Lewis Laughead Builder.  He served as a Trustee and was on the Session of Faith United Presbyterian Church in Monmouth.  He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, Lifetime VFW member, a former member of the American Legion, and served in the U.S. Navy.  Lewis enjoyed tropical fish, raising angel fish, and spending time with his family.

Lewis will be remembered by his wife Jane Laughead, Bettendorf; four daughters: Elaine (Ken) Waugh of Calhoun, GA, Linda (Jeff) Savard of Mechanicsburg, PA, Deb Mastny of San Diego, CA, and Marna (Carey) Nowack of Bettendorf; nine grandchildren: Tony (Marielle) Higbee, Tim Waugh, Greg Waugh, Cody Higbee, Christin (John) Piccirilli, Bob (Vanessa) Savard, Karen Higbee, Brent Nowack, and Britni Nowack; and four great-grandchildren.  Lewis was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Mary Bailey, and brother, Tom Laughead.
