Lillian A. Emery, 85, a resident of LeClaire, Iowa, died February 19, 2004 at the Iowa Masonic Health Facility in Bettendorf.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, February 23, 2004 at 1:00 P.M. at the McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Chapel in Bettendorf. Interment will be at the Rock Island National Cemetery where military honors will be conducted. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Disease Association.
Lillian was born January 19, 1919 in Pleasant Valley, Iowa, the daughter of Lewis and Margaret (Mueller) Clemons. Miss Clemons joined the Navy Waves in 1943, serving in California and Illinois until her honorable discharge in 1951.
On August 15, 1951, she was united in marriage to Paul R. Emery at Great Lakes. He preceded her in death on April 26, 2000.
Lillian was an active member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary in Golden, Colorado and Bettendorf, Iowa and the American Legion in Golden. She was a member of the First Baptist Churches of Littleton, Colorado and Bettendorf.
Mrs. Emery always thought of her friends & family first. The love she gave was always felt by those around her. Lillian, along with her twin brother, Leonard, were the oldest of seven children.
Lillian’s love will be carried on through her family including, her daughters & son-in-law, Deborah & Michael West of LeClaire; and Nancy Bianchi of LeClaire; her grandchildren, Carrie Lane and B.J. Cockayne, Neil and Tammy West, Jessica Dague and Martin Hogan, Ryan West, Ricky Dague, Carly Bianchi and Casey Bianchi; her great-grandchildren, Brittney Lane, Braiden Cockayne, Kyler West, Courtney Hogan, Austin Dague and Koby West; her sister Evelyn Gilmore of Bettendorf; and her brother, Tom Clemons in California.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Janet Dague; her great-grandson, Jordon Michael Hogan; her sister, Helen Stewart; and her brothers, Leonard Clemons, Robert Clemons and Harold Clemons.
