Linda Childe

Linda A. Childe, 79, of Davenport, Iowa passed away on Tuesday, September 3, 2019 at the Good Samaritan Society, Davenport.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday at Bettendorf Presbyterian Church.  Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until service time at the church.  Burial will be at Pine Hill Cemetery in Davenport.  McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Linda was born on August 9, 1940 in Davenport, the daughter of Jon Marechal and Doris Mae (Allison) Carlson.  Following high school, she worked as a secretary for the U.S. Department of Naval Intelligence which allowed her to travel extensively throughout Europe and abroad.  She later achieved an Associates Degree in Business from Scott Community College.  Linda enjoyed watching her westerns, reading, playing Bingo, nature watching, and attending her grandchildren’s sporting and show choir events.

Those left to honor her memory are her daughter, Alison (Steven) Brooks of Davenport; her son, Graeme (Cindra) Childe of Davenport; brother, Jon (Patricia) Carlson of Moscow, Iowa; cousin, Pamela (Marv) Mertens of Davenport; seven grandchildren, John, Shandy, Ben, Anthony, Chelsie, Jamie, Marechal; two great-grandchildren, Ember and Alainah; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her step-mother, Doris J. Carlson.
