Linda Paterson

Linda Rose Paterson lived life fully.  Her greatest joys were with her family, and in fitting fashion, she passed away peacefully on March 2, 2023 with her four children at her side. Linda Paterson (nee Hazlett) was born, raised, and enjoyed many years of life in Davenport, Iowa.  She was born January 23, 1941 and was a graduate of Davenport High in 1959.

After adventuring in California, Linda met and married Robert Paterson, together having four children, Eric, Kurtis, Amy and Jennifer. She nurtured their compassion, joy of learning, and love of life. They in turn passed on the best of their mother, producing her nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She is survived by her children and their spouses, Jennifer and Ryan Vogel (Eureka, Illinois), Amy and David Mize (Eldridge, Iowa), Kurt and Essa Paterson (Phoenix, Arizona) and Eric and Beth Paterson (Blacksburg, Virginia), her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her mother (Inarose Hazlett), father (James Hazlett), brother (Dennis Hazlett), sister (Leslie Young), and long-time companion Lonnie Grimm.

Linda had a rich history of helping others find happiness, whether it be her years serving soon-to-be brides find the perfect gown while working at Younkers bridal department, people finding their luck aboard the new Iowa riverboats, or children finding their way in several Davenport Community Schools (Harrison, Buchanan, and Eisenhower).

Linda will be laid to rest at Davenport Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, Linda would want you to hug your children and mother.
