Loeta Mcelderry

Loeta McElderry, 84, a resident of Bettendorf, Iowa died on Thursday, December 25, 2014 at Genesis Medical Center, East Campus in Davenport, Iowa.

Visitation will be held from 3:00 P.M. to 5:00 P.M. on Tuesday, December 30, 2014 at the McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home of Bettendorf.  Additional visitation will be held from 1:00 P.M. to 2:00 P.M. on Wednesday, December 31, 2014 at the Schmidt Family Funeral Home in Centerville, Iowa.  Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Thursday at the Schmidt Family Funeral Home.  She will be laid to rest at Oakland Cemetery in Centerville.  Memorials may be made to the family.

She was born July 7, 1930 in Missouri, the daughter of Clarence and Roxie (Shelton) Mathes.  On July 30, 1948, she was united in marriage to Eugene E. McElderry in Centerville.  He preceded her in death on July 1, 2010.

Loeta was a devoted wife, mom & homemaker.  She enjoyed babysitting in earlier years and dearly loved her family, especially her grandkids.

Those left to honor her memory include her daughter, Brenda (Charles) Kurtz of Davenport; her son, Rick McElderry of Bettendorf; her grandchildren, Michael Thomas and Lora Connelly, both of Yuma, Arizona; three great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.

In addition to her husband, Loeta was preceded in death by her daughters, Sandra McElderry and Debbie McElderry; her sister, Golda Sleeth; her brother, Edwin Mathes; and her parents.
