Lois L. Havenhill, 73, a life-long resident of Princeton, Iowa, died Sunday, October 23, 2011 at the Iowa Masonic Health Facility in Bettendorf, Iowa.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Friday, October 28, 2011 at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Chapel in Bettendorf. Visitation will be held from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Oakridge Cemetery in Princeton. Memorials may be made to a charity of the Donor’s choice.
Lois was born November 11, 1937 in Princeton, the daughter of Ben & Helen (Peters) Shaw and was a graduate of LeClaire High School.
She was united in marriage to Samuel W. Havenhill on June 17, 1955 in LeClaire.
Lois was retired from the Scott County Library System where she was a librarian in Princeton for many years. She was a “Homemaker Extraordinaire” who loved her family dearly. Lois was also an avid bowler and she enjoyed traveling, baking and working the daily Cryptoquote. She was also excellent at and enjoyed playing Trivial Pursuit and Scrabble.
Those left to honor her memory include her husband of fifty-six years, Samuel; her sons, Michael (Shelia) Havenhill of Davenport and Timothy Havenhill of Des Moines, Iowa; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild; her sister, Rose Barlon of Dubuque, Iowa; and her brother, Benjamin (Harriet) Shaw of Princeton.
Lois was preceded in death by her parents.
