Lois M. Jakoby, 89, of Blue Grass, Iowa, died Saturday, January 17, 2015 in Sarasota, Florida.
A memorial mass will be held at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, February 14, 2015 at St. Andrews Catholic Church in Blue Grass where she was a member. Memorials may be made to Illinois Master Gardeners through the University of Illinois or St Andrews Catholic Church.
Lois was born May 31, 1925 in South Bend, Indiana, the daughter of Wilbur & Nona (Weidman) Bonebrake. She was a graduate of South Side High School in Fort Wayne, Indiana. She was united in marriage to Edward C. Jakoby on June 7, 1946 in Fort Wayne. He preceded her in death in 1985.
Lois was an accountant and also a Master Gardener. She enjoyed dancing, reading, painting, swimming and travelling. She was also a longtime member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Bartonville, Illinois.
Those left to honor her memory include her daughters and son-in-law, Christine Riley of Sarasota and Jananne & Warren Kay of Blue Grass; her grandchildren, Matt (Sascha) Kay, of Los Angeles, California, Michelle Kay of Honolulu, Hawaii, Jill (Marty) Riley of Jacksonville, Florida and Mitch (Michelle) Riley of Sarasota; her great-grandchildren along with several adoring nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, Lois was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, Nona Sue Meyers; her son-in-law, Michael Riley; and her sister, Doris Brehm.
