Lorraine B. Jasper, 87, a resident of Bettendorf, passed away Friday, August 30, 2013 at her home.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, September 4, 2013 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Bettendorf. Burial will be at Rock Island National Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 3rd at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf. Casual attire is requested. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Genesis Hospice.
Lorraine was born on March 28, 1926 in Milwaukee, WI, the daughter of Levi and Gertrude (Lansing) Tiedemann. She married Dean Jasper in 1947. He preceded her in death in October 1982.
Lorraine was an employee of the State of Iowa, retiring as the manager of a state liquor store prior to its closing. She was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Bettendorf. She enjoyed watching her sons play softball, Wheel of Fortune and going to the grocery store. Lorraine cherished time spent with her family, friends and neighbors. She was strong in her Catholic faith.
Those left to honor her memory include three sons, Chris (Cathy) Jasper, Craig Jasper and Dean Jasper, all of Bettendorf; two daughters, Diane Dhooge of Phoenix, AZ and Mary Ann (Ronald) Wasion of Kenosha, WI; 17 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two grandsons, Derek Dhooge and Ronald G. Wasion, II; brother, Bud; and sister, Ione.
Lorraine wrote, “I have always felt the greatest gift I gave my children was raising them Catholic – Actively practicing or not, I have seen each of them follow the principles of the church in their lives.”
