Louisa Mcdougal

Louisa Lee McDougal, 88, a resident of LeClaire, Iowa died on Wednesday, October 12, 2011 at Trinity Bettendorf.

A service to celebrate her life will be held at 2:00 P.M. Monday, October 17, 2011 at the McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Chapel of Bettendorf. The family will greet friends from 12:00 P.M. to 2:00 P.M. Monday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to St.Peter’s Episcopal Church of Bettendorf where she was a member.

She was born September 27, 1923 in West Lima, Wisconsin, the daughter of Adolph Joseph & Pearl Louisa (Burt) Bender. On July 15, 1939, she was united in marriage to William H. McDougal in Waukon, Iowa. He preceded her in death on January 21, 2004.

In earlier years, Louisa worked as a telephone operator and as a private duty nurse in various people’s homes.

Her family was the love of her life and she treasured the times they were together. The family always looked forward to Sunday’s at grandma’s house where there was always plenty of food, plenty of fun and plenty of love to share. Louisa was a tender-hearted person and had a soft place in her heart for animals.

Those left to honor her memory include her daughter, Mary Lou (Donald E.) Jones of LeClaire; her grandchildren, Lynn Jones & her spouse, Jeff Brimeyer of LeClaire, Lori Jones-Shaffnit and Donald A. (Sharla) Jones of LeClaire; her great-grandchildren, Angela Shaffnit, Kayla Shaffnit, Jeremy Jones, Jacob Jones, Abigail Jones and Jared Jones; her step-great-grandchildren, Lisa Thiel and Greg Brimeyer; her great-great-grandchildren, Josalyn and Lily; her care-giver, Pat Fisher; and her beloved kitty cat companion, “Sweetie-Pie.”

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Geraldine, Gwendolyn and Ramona; and her brothers, Orie, Joseph, John & Dale.
