Louise E. Clemons, 81, a resident of Bettendorf died Sunday, September 21, 2003 at her home.
A Celebration of her life will be held at 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, September 24, 2003 at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Chapel, Bettendorf. Burial will be in Pleasant Valley Cemetery. Visitation will be 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. today at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Genesis Hospice.
Louise was born June 3, 1922 in Sisseton, South Dakota the daughter of James & Emma (Steck) Streets. She was united in marriage to Leonard A. Clemons on December 22, 1959 in Maquoketa, Iowa. He preceded her in death on January 19, 2001.
Louise was employed as a cook at Riverview Manor Nursing Home in Pleasant Valley and in several other area nursing homes.
Among the things she enjoyed were crocheting afghans for her family, gardening & caring for her yard and cooking. Her family was the joy of her life and she loved the times spent at family gatherings & other occasions. Her memberships included Praise Fellowship in Bettendorf.
Louise had no children of her own, but became a mother to Larry Clemons who died on January 15, 2003; Marvin Yarolem of Baldwin, Iowa; Lewis Clemons of Bettendorf and Linda Hacker who died on May 19, 2001 ; she is also survived by her grandchildren, Debbie, Keith, Brian, Sherry, Wendy, Scott, Ethal, Mark, Darren, Larry, Elizabeth, Julie, Louise & Pete; 24 great-grandchildren; her sister, Mildred Gavin of Monmouth, Iowa; and her brother, Chuck Streets of Baldwin.
In addition to her daughter, son & husband, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Helen, Artis & Delores and by her great-grandson, Michael.
