Louise L. Muhl, 89, of Bettendorf, passed away Tuesday July 2, 2013 at Riverview Manor in Pleasant Valley.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday, July 8, 2013 at Pleasant View Baptist Church in Bettendorf. Visitation will be held from 1:00 P.M. to 3:00 P.M. on Sunday at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf. Burial will be at Rock Island National Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or Pleasant View Baptist Church.
Louise was born August 13, 1923 in Shawnee, Oklahoma, the daughter of Wilkie “Jeff” and Gladys (Spaulding) Davis. She attended United Township High School in East Moline, Illinois.
Louise was united in marriage to Dale Muhl on April 26, 1952 in East Moline. He preceded her in death August 10, 2006.
In Louise’s early years she worked as a secretary, and later became a homemaker. Louise loved gospel music, especially attending Gaither Homecoming Concerts. She also enjoyed watching Iowa Hawkeye basketball, the Lawrence Welk Show, Classic Gospel and attending church at Pleasant View Baptist Church.
Louise also enjoyed crocheting, going to garage sales and going out to restaurants. Louise was diagnosed with Stage 4 lung cancer 5 and 1/2 years ago and was considered a medical miracle by her doctors who were amazed by her determination. She will be remembered as a loving caregiver for Dale for many years after he had suffered a stroke.
Louise will be remembered by her two daughters: Janine Muhl of Bettendorf and Lynette (Farley) Calavaza of Zuni, New Mexico; her son, Wyatt Muhl; her granddaughter Aubrey Calavaza of Zuni; her sister Marguerite Kirkpatrick of Colorado; and Dale's cousin's wife, Helen Muhl in Oxford Junction, Iowa
In addition to her husband, Dale, Louise was preceded in death by her parents.
