Louise E. Short

Louise E. Short, 88, a resident of Riverview Manor Nursing Home, Pleasant Valley, Iowa and formerly of Rock Island, Illinois and Daytona Beach, Florida died on Monday, May 14, 2007 at Riverview Manor.
Her funeral service will be held at 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, May 16, 2007 at the McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Chapel in Bettendorf, Iowa. Burial will be in Rose Lawn Memorial Estate, Moline, Illinois. Visitation will be from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Riverview Manor, Genesis Hospice or Trinity Lutheran Church of Pleasant Valley.
She was born October 23, 1918 in Milan, Illinois, the daughter of John & Nellie (Cox) Shunning. On September 3, 1938, she was united in marriage to Russell Short in Davenport, Iowa. He preceded her in death on February 10, 1979.
In earlier years, Louise had been employed at the Rock Island Arsenal, the Rock Island Railroad, Brammer Manufacturing and at Servus Rubber
Louise was a member of the Elks Lodge, both in Rock Island and in Daytona Beach.
She loved Bingo, enjoyed playing shuffleboard and had many hours of fun playing cards with her many friends. Louise was always ready to go anywhere, especially to flea markets and auctions.
Those left to honor her memory include her sons, Robert J. (Barbara) Short of Cocoa, Florida and Gerald A. (Connie) Short of Bettendorf; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and her brother, Robert Shunning of Moline, Illinois.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Lois Dulaney and Clara Riceman.
