Louis Lynne Carpenter, 69, president & founder of Castle Excavating, Inc. and a resident of Bettendorf, Iowa died August 4, 2006 at his home following a brief illness.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M., Monday, August 7, 2006 at Our Savior Lutheran Church, 3775 Middle Rd. in Bettendorf. Burial will be at Greenview Memorial Gardens in East Moline, Illinois. Visitation will be from 2:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. on Sunday, August 6, 2006 at the McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf. Louis was born November 21, 1936 in Jamison, Missouri, the son of Luellen & Martha (Curtis) Carpenter. He was united in marriage to Sandra May on March 25, 1964 in Moline, Illinois.
He was a U.S. Army veteran and served in Germany.
Louis owned & operated Castle Excavating Inc. of Bettendorf for the past 42 years. The company was founded in 1964 by Louis and his wife, Sandra.
He was a member of the Association of General Contractors and a member of the Operators Union Local 150.
Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Sandra; his sons, Louis Carpenter Jr. of Chicago, Illinois and Cory Carpenter & his wife, Ann of LeClaire, Iowa; his grandchildren, Allie, Tanner and Bailey; his sisters & brothers-in-law, Luella Pierce of San Diego, California, Velma & John Kennedy of Ames, Iowa and Sharon & Larry Linville of Springfield, Missouri and several nieces & nephews.
Louis was preceded in death by his parents; and by his brothers Lawrence and Gerald.
