Lucille Green, 85, a resident of Eldridge, died peacefully on Friday, December 19, 2014 at her daughter’s home in Dubuque surrounded by her family.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 27, 2014 at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Long Grove. Burial will be at Davenport Memorial Park. Visitation will be on Friday, December 26th at Chambers Funeral Home in Eldridge from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. and one hour prior to Mass on Saturday at the church. Lucille’s family asks that memorials be made to the Lucille Green Memorial Fund for the benefit of Camp Courageous.
Born on February 17, 1929 in Moline, Lucille was the daughter of Camiel J. and Marguerite (Beert) Blondell. On August 17, 1949 she married Carl Eugene “Gene” Green at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Long Grove where she was a member.
In the beginning of her working career, Lucille taught in a one room school house, which is now the Long Grove Community Center. She and her husband, Gene, co-owned Gene’s Hair Hut where, as a beautician, she worked alongside her husband and son. She enjoyed stamp collecting, gardening, cooking and collecting antiques. Lucille cherished her time spent with family to which she gave her unending love and support.
Those left to honor her memory include her husband, Gene; daughters, Cheryl (Steve) Arp of Long Grove, Barb (Dick) Peterson of Hastings, MN and Patti (Jim) Peters of Dubuque; son, Ron (Rhea) Green of Long Grove; twelve grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren; sisters, Clara Speth of Davenport and Sharon Mazak of LeClaire; brother, Donald (Ann) Blondell of Eldridge.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Gary Blondell.
