Luella L. Henderson, 88, a resident of Riverview Manor Nursing Home, Pleasant Valley, Iowa and formerly of Bettendorf, Iowa died on Sunday, November 27, 2005 at Genesis Medical Center, West Campus in Davenport, Iowa.
Her funeral service will be held at 10:30 A.M. Friday, December 2, 2005 at the McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Chapel, Bettendorf. Burial will be in Fairmount Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:30 A.M. to 10:30 A.M. Friday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or to Gilda’s Club.
She was born November 15, 1917 in Davenport, the daughter of Glen & Rose (Steele) Van Sant and was a 1936 graduate of Davenport High School. On August 3, 1940, she was united in marriage to Robert G. Henderson in Bettendorf. He preceded her in death on May 1, 1979.
Luella was employed as a food service supervisor for the Hacienda-LaPuente Unified School District in California, retiring in 1979.
Her memberships include the Order of the Eastern Star, Chapter 21 of Los Angeles, California, the Quad-Cities Plus-60 Club and AARP.
Those left to honor her memory include her daughter, Susan Kay Henderson; her son, Roger J. Henderson; her grandchildren, Christopher Taggart, Robert Taggart, Michael Henderson and Matthew Henderson; her great-grandchildren, Candace Taggart, Paige Taggart, Saige Taggart and Bridgette Taggart; and her sister, Violet Larson of Bettendorf.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Roy, Homer, Benny & Dale Van Sant.
