Luetta Kozicki

August 20, 1926 — June 23, 2017

Luetta M. Kozicki, 90, of Bettendorf, Iowa died on Friday, June 23, 2017 at the Good Samaritan Nursing Center in Davenport.

Services will be held at 11:30 A.M. on Friday, June 30, 2017 at the Rock Island National Cemetery. Those wishing to attend should meet at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf at 11:00 A.M. Friday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Honor Flight or Genesis Hospice.

She was born on August 20, 1926 in Syracuse, Nebraska, the daughter of Fred and Louise (Reuter) Helm. On September 15, 1950, she was united in marriage to Edward S. Kozicki in Hawaii. Following the birth of their daughter, they lived in Germany for 2 ½ years where Ed was serving in the U.S. Air Force. Ed preceded Luetta in death on October 17, 1994.

Luetta worked as beautician in Nebraska and after moving to Bettendorf in 1964, she worked at the Bettendorf Middle School, Bettendorf High School and the Iowa Masonic Health Facility.

She enjoyed doing cross-stitch, sewing, playing pinochle and was a fan of the Chicago Cubs. Her family, especially her beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the joy of her life and she loved every minute spent with them.

Those left to honor her memory include her daughters Wanda Derby of Davenport and Mary (Bob) Brown of Nebraska City, Nebraska; her granddaughters, Lynnette (Hays) Snow and Jayme (Mark Kean) Derby-Cox; and her great-grandchildren, Austin (Megan), Darick, Kaylin, Kylie, Anthony, Corbin, Adalyn, Alivia and Coleson.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Lucille (Willus) Cooper and Eileen (Al) Mertl; and her brothers, Alivn (Mae) Helm, Richard (Merna) Helm and Ralph (Christine) Helm Sr.

Luetta’s family would like to express a special thank you to the nurses, CNAs and staff at the Good Samaritan Center for all of their care and compassion.
