Lyle Mohr

Lyle W. Mohr, 85, died Friday, January 12, 2018 at the Davenport Lutheran Home in Davenport.
Funeral services celebrating his life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 16, 2018 at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Davenport. Burial will be at Rock Island National Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to services on Tuesday, at church. Memorials may be made to Holy Cross Lutheran Church or Habitat for Humanity.
Born on March 13, 1932 in Davenport, Lyle was the son of Wilbert and Linda (Rathjen) Mohr. On May 30, 1972 in Bettendorf, he married Charlene “Sandy” Groth.
Lyle worked for the Rock Island Arsenal, retiring in 1987. He served in the U.S. Army from 1952-1954. He was a member of the Bettendorf Lions Club and a former Boy Scout Leader. He enjoyed making furniture, was an artist, and loved to travel the world. He volunteered for Habitat for Humanity and assisted in the construction of Risen Christ Lutheran Church in Davenport, as well as the cottages and church at the Davenport Lutheran Home. Lyle was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church and the Moline American Legion Post #246, where he served on the Honor Guard.
Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Charlene “Sandy”; children, Carrie (Peter) Delcourt of Milan, Bruce (Carlene) Mohr of Dade City, Florida, Brian Mohr of St. Petersburg, Florida, Curt Mohr of Davenport, Lori (Jim) Long of Bettendorf, Bill (Jo Ann) Neilson of Davenport, Cliff (Cheryl) Neilson of Delmar, and Randy (Kathi) Neilson of Davenport; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sister, Marie Carlson of California; and a brother, Lloyd Mohr of Minnesota.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son Marty Neilson, and granddaughter Frances Dale Delcourt.
