Mackenzie was born in Iowa City on June 18, 2008 and was baptized into the Christian faith shortly thereafter. Mackenzie’s spirit as a fighter, her perseverance, despite her dialysis treatments and her determination to live brought such strength to those that knew her. She certainly was an inspiration to her family and to the doctors, nurses and staff of the Pediatric Dialysis Unit at the University of Iowa.
