Madeline R. Miller, 90, of Davenport, died Saturday, July 17, 2010 at Genesis Medical Center, West Campus, Davenport.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, July 21, 2010 at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Greenmound Cemetery in Keithsburg, Illinois. Memorials may be made to the Friendly House in Davenport.
Madeline was born August 8, 1919 in New Boston, Illinois, the daughter of Rolly & Lena (Norton) Reed. She was united in marriage to Willis M. Miller on October 30, 1935 in Milan, Illinois. He preceded her in death on May 30, 1974.
Madeline was retired from the Davenport School System where she had worked in the cafeteria at J.B. Young Intermediate School. Most recently, she had spent many hours volunteering at the Friendly House in Davenport.
She was a fan of the Chicago Cubs and car racing. Also, she enjoyed watching Days of Our Lives, and she liked to read and spend time gardening.
Those left to honor her memory include her sons and daughters-in-law, John & Jeannette Miller of Grand Bay, Alabama, Gerald & Nancy Miller of Winston-Salem, North Carolina, Richard & Pam Miller of Davenport, Gary Miller of Davenport and Kevin & Claudia Miller of Atlanta, Georgia; her grandchildren, Jeri Lynn Park, Ginger Golding, Brent Miller, Julie Meyer, Laurie Miller, Melissa Fry, Jeffrey Miller, Steve Miller, Katherine Miller, Christian Miller, Justin Miller, Ryan Miller, Nicole Miller, Paul Miller, Katie Gaynor, Ryne Miller, Hailee Miller and Jackson Miller; fourteen great-grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and her brother and sister-in-law, Wayne & Berlea Reed of Monument, Arizona.
In addition to her husband, Willis, Madeline was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Rolly Reed, Jr., her sister, Irene Taylor; and her grandchildren, Gary Miller, Jr. and Sandra Miller.
