Madonna V. Hawkins, 79, of Bettendorf, Iowa, died Tuesday, June 7, 2016 at the Iowa Masonic Health Facility in Bettendorf, Iowa.

Funeral Services & Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, June 10, 2016 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Delmar, Iowa.  Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf and a Rosary will be recited at 5:00 p.m.  Burial will be in St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Delmar.  Memorials may be made to the J. N. "Ding" Darling National Wildlife Refuge on Sanibel Island in Florida.

Madonna was born July 24, 1936 in Delmar, the daughter of Clarence & Viola (Snyder) Cook.  She was united in marriage to Robert Hawkins on September 21, 1957 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Delmar.  He preceded her in death on November 11, 2010.

Madonna was a life-long sports fan and enjoyed attending sporting events.  She was a Chicago Cubs fan and will be remembered for her holiday cookies and her homemade costumes.  Among her favorite memories was shelling on Sanibel Island in Florida.  She loved her time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Those left to honor her memory include her daughters and sons-in-law, Patricia Tuftee of Davenport, Iowa, Sandra & Steve Ferguson of Cedar Falls, Iowa, Virginia & Kortney Kotz of Mechanicsville, Iowa, and Katherine & Kevin Cary of Bettendorf; her sons and daughters-in-law, David & Rhonda Hawkins of Bennett, Iowa and Robert & Rebecca Hawkins of Knoxville, Tennessee; her grandchildren, Eric, Ethan, Mackenzie, Skyler, Kaylee (Nick), Clarissa (John), Taylor (Zachary), Brock, Drake, Dylan and Nathan; her great-grandchildren Quintin and another on the way; her sisters, Mary Ruth (Paul) Lasack of Oxford Junction, Iowa and Shirley Gorzney of Calamus, Iowa; and her brothers, Jim Cook of Clinton, Iowa, Jack (Arlene) Cook of Bettendorf; and her beloved dog, Belle.

In addition to her husband, Madonna was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Evelyn McKinzie; her brothers, Larry and Paul Cook; and her son-in-law, Roger Tuftee.
