Madonna I. Schmidt

Madonna I. Schmidt, 83, a resident of Bettendorf, Iowa died Wednesday, July 21, 2004 at the Kahl Home for the Aged in Davenport.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 Noon Saturday, July 24, 2004 at the McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Chapel, Bettendorf, Iowa. Burial will be in Pleasant Valley Cemetery. Visitation will be after 10:00 A.M. Saturday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Scott County Humane Society.
She was born January 17, 1921 in East St. Louis, Illinois, the daughter of Eddie & Irene (Danley) Giblin. On July 23, 1948, she was united in marriage to William Schmidt in East St. Louis. He preceded her in death on January 10, 2002.
Madonna was devoted homemaker and loving mother. In her leisure time, she enjoyed swing music and musical productions. She was an avid reader and was a “newshound” when it came to current events.
Those left to honor her memory include her daughters, Deborah Schmidt and Diane Schmidt, both of Bettendorf; her son & daughter-in-law, Gregory J. & Nancy J. Schmidt of Urbandale, Iowa; her grandchildren, Jennifer Lopata, David Schmidt & his wife, Tracie and Christa Brus & her husband, Chad; her great-grandchildren, Hunter, Bradley, Nicholas, Grace, Tyler, Joshua & Sarah; and a life-time friend whom she thought of as a son, Art Rose III of Bettendorf.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, Norman Giblin.
