Marcus Wayne Blieu, Sr. 60, a resident of Blue Grass, Iowa, died Tuesday, May 30, 2017 at his home.
A memorial service celebrating his life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 3, 2017 at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. on Friday, June 2nd at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Scott County Humane Society.
Born on June 24, 1956 in Davenport, Marcus was the son of Lyle R. and Elaine Gayle (Flickinger) Blieu. On August 2, 1980 in Davenport, Marcus married Barbara Davis at his mother’s home.
Marcus worked in sales for his family’s business, Bumper Exchange, Inc., and later became a regional sales manager. He volunteered at Friendly Thrift Center in Davenport and for the St. Alphonsus Catholic Church fish fry.
Marcus enjoyed watching movies, especially Sci-Fi, due to his large interest in space exploration. He took immaculate care of his lawn and enjoyed gardening. Marcus had a true love for animals, was a cancer survivor, and an avid Green Bay Packers fan. He enjoyed traveling in his younger years.
Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Barb; sons, Marc (Jill) Blieu of New Liberty, Iowa and Nicholas Blieu of Davenport; a granddaughter, Harper Elaine Blieu; sisters, Donna Pratt of Des Moines, Cheri Olson of Long Grove, and Michelle Blieu of Davenport; brothers, David Blieu of East Moline and Paul Blieu of Davenport; six nieces and nephews; and a very special uncle, Wayne Flickinger.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
