Margaret Buttrey

Margaret A. Buttrey, 82, a resident of Bettendorf, Iowa died on Thursday, April 14, 2011 at Manor Care Nursing Center in Davenport, Iowa following a courageous battle with cancer.

A private funeral is planned with interment at the Rock Island National Cemetery. Donations honoring Annie’s memory may be made to the American Cancer Society or to Heartland Hospice. McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home of Bettendorf is assisting the family with arrangements.

Annie was born January 27, 1929 in Liverpool, England to Francis & Esther (Hesketh) Swift. She grew up in war-torn Liverpool during World War II where she married Gerald N. Fosdick in 1950. She later married Clarence Felske who preceded her in death in 1975. She then married Lewie Buttrey in 1978 and he preceded her in death in 2003.

Those left to honor her memory include her two sons, Jerry Fosdick of Davenport and Steve Fosdick of Colona, Illinois; her daughter, Trish Fosdick of Phoenix, Arizona. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Sarah (Travis) Turnbull, Faye Fosdick, Rachel Fosdick, Michael Fosdick, September Fosdick, Summer Fosdick, Ryan Gean and Lauren Gean; three great-grandchildren; and a brother, Frank Swift of Manchester, England.

In addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by her parents; and her brothers, Ronald, John, Harold, Robert, James and Arthur.
