Margaret Jean Carroll, 88, of Bettendorf, passed away on Tuesday, April 30, 2013 at Genesis Medical Center, East Campus in Davenport.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, May 4, 2013 at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf.  Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the services on Saturday at the funeral home.  Burial will follow at Davenport Memorial Park.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Mohassan Caldron No. 2 of Davenport or to the Silver Creek Chapter #302, Order of Eastern Star in LeClaire, Iowa.

Margaret was born March 27, 1925 in Davenport, the daughter of Herbert C. & Vera (Gaghagen) McCauley.  She was united in marriage to James A. Carroll on February 8, 1944 in Davenport.  He preceded her in death on October 12, 1988.

Margaret was employed by the government while her husband was in the service.  Upon his discharge from the service, they moved to LeClaire where they had owned a confectionary store called Slip In.

An elder at the former St. Andrew Presbyterian Church in Davenport, she was also a Past Matron with the Silver Creek Chapter #302, Order of Eastern Star in LeClaire for over 70 years.

She was also a Past MCO with Mohassan Caldron No. 2, Daughters of Mokanna in Davenport and Past Supreme Mighty Chosen One of Daughters of Mokanna in 1981.

Margaret enjoyed sewing, knitting and crocheting.

Those left to honor her memory include her sister-in-law, Gertrude Whistler of Arkansas; two nieces; two nephews; and her special friends, Sharon Carroll of East Moline, Illinois and Steve & Marilyn Rinehart of Bettendorf.

In addition to her husband, Margaret was preceded in death by her parents and her sister Katherine S. Griesel.
