Margaret A. Casel, 99, of Davenport, Iowa, formerly of Long Grove, Iowa passed away on Tuesday, September 18, 2018 at Bickford Cottage in Davenport.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Long Grove, Iowa. Visitation will be held from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. on Sunday afternoon at the church. Burial will be in St. Ann’s Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to St. Ann’s Catholic Church. Chambers Funeral Home in Eldridge, Iowa is assisting the family with arrangements.
Margaret A. Wallace was born on September 20, 1918 in Maquoketa, Iowa, the daughter of Joseph and Myrtle (Edwards) Wallace. In 1936, she married Walter J. Casel in Maquoketa. He preceded her in death in 1974. Throughout her life Margaret worked at various places, including the Catholic Supply Store and the Post Office. She also served as Long Grove City Clerk until her retirement. In her earlier years, she enjoyed volunteering at Mercy Hospital as a “Pink Lady”. Margaret was an active member of St. Ann’s Catholic Church, where she served on the Ladies Guild.
She is survived by a daughter-in-law, Susan Casel of Eldridge; grandsons, Gregory (Kendra) Casel of DeWitt, Iowa, Todd (Virginia) Casel of Moline, Illinois, Christopher (Michelle) Casel of Davenport, Matthew (Leslie) Casel of Manchester, Missouri; a sister, Janey Ryan of Weslaco, Texas; nine great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandson.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by sons, Robert and James Casel; a daughter in infancy; five brothers and four sisters.
