Margaret M. Foss, 89, of Bettendorf passed away on Friday, November 25, 2022 at the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 29th at St. John Vianney Catholic Church, Bettendorf. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will be at a later date at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Waterloo, Iowa. Memorials may be directed to St. John Vianney Catholic Church, American Cancer Society, American Diabetes Association, or to the American Red Cross. McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Margaret was born June 29, 1933 in Waterloo, Iowa, the daughter of James and Grace (Tierney) Mulholland. On September 9, 1950 she was united in marriage to Kenneth Foss in Waterloo. While their children were young, Margaret was a stay at home mom. She and her husband later owned and operated Foss Lumber in Waterloo. Years later she worked at JCPenneys in Waterloo and in St. Charles, Missouri. Margaret was a dedicated volunteer for the American Red Cross in both Waterloo and St. Charles. She enjoyed golfing with her husband and sons and playing cards. In her earlier years, she was an avid runner, participated in numerous marathons, and enjoyed exercising. Margaret was a member of St. John Vianney Catholic Church, where she joined the “Knitting Ladies” in making prayer shawls, scarves and hats for those in need. Above all, she adored her family and was a devoted wife, mom, and grandma.
Those left to honor her memory are her children, Kenny (Nancy) Foss of Evansdale, Iowa, Sheri (Doug) Michel of Webb Lake, Wisconsin, Tony (Alena) Foss of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Tim (Diane) Foss of Bettendorf, Tom Foss of Four Oaks, North Carolina, and Todd (Laurie) Foss of Tipton, Iowa; 11 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her father, James, her mother and step-father, Grace & John Beck, she was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth; grandson, Tadan Foss; daughters-in-law, Cherie Foss, Dee Foss, and Joan Foss; her siblings, Kay, CeCe, Dorothy, and Don.
