Margaret E. Ristau, 83, a resident of Bettendorf, Iowa died on Monday, May 29, 2006 at Crest Health Center in Davenport, Iowa.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. Friday, June 2, 2006 at Wildwood Baptist Church, East Moline, Illinois where she was a member. Graveside services will be conducted at 3:00 P.M. Friday at Greenwood Cemetery in Canton, Illinois. Visitation will be from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Thursday at the McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home, Bettendorf. Memorials may be made to Wildwood Baptist Church.
She was born April 22, 1923 in Belleville, Illinois, the daughter of Thomas & Harriett (Rostrom) Greenwell. In 1945 she was united in marriage to William “Woody” Woodcock in Canton, Illinois. He preceded her in death in 1976. In 1978 she was united in marriage to Richard K. Ristau in Rock Island, Illinois.
Margaret received her teaching degree from Western Illinois University in 1942 and taught elementary school in Norris, Illinois and later in Farmington, Illinois. In 1954, she joined the Accounting Department of the Caterpillar Tractor Company in Decatur, Illinois where she worked for 22 years. She then transferred to the Caterpillar Company in Peoria, Illinois for 2 years and retired from the Caterpillar Company in Mt. Joy, Iowa after a 26-year career with the company.
She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star in Decatur, Illinois for over 50 years and enjoyed doing genealogy. She also loved to travel and was an accomplished writer of poetry.
Those left to honor her memory include her husband, Richard; her son & daughter-in-law, Leslie & Connie Woodcock of Peoria; her grandchildren, Jennessa Woodcock, Marissa Studebaker & her husband, Ben and Kellen Woodcock; her great-grandson, Aedan Studebaker; her step-son & daughter-in-law, Steve & Pam Ristau of Des Moines, Iowa; her step-grandson, Ken Ristau & his wife, Lori; and her sister, Maxine Dalmasso of Canton, Illinois.
In addition to her first husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, Thomas Greenwell Jr.
