Margery Ann Schroeder, 74, of Eldridge, died Monday, December 27, 2004 at her home. Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, December 29, 2004 at Chambers Funeral Home, Eldridge. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service on Wednesday. Burial will be in Allen’s Grove Cemetery, Donahue. Memorials may be made to Faith Lutheran Church or the Donahue American Legion.
Margery Ann was born February 7, 1930 in Donahue, Iowa, the daughter of Walter and Elsie (Hesse) Lorber. She was a graduate of Marycrest College in Davenport, receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree. She was united in marriage to James H. Schroeder on May 20, 1953 in Davenport. Margery Ann was an elementary school teacher for 32 years with the Davenport School System and, in early years, in Donahue. She was a loyal member of North Scott Athletic Boosters, the Donahue American Legion Auxiliary, and she was a life member of the National and State Retired Teachers Association.
Margery Ann was also a 1991 recipient of the Golden Apple Award for Excellence in Teaching. Additionally, she was a member and past secretary and president of the Iowa Rural Letter Carriers Association Auxiliary.
She was an avid collector of Isabel Bloom sculptures and pigs. Margery Ann loved sports of all kinds, and she especially loved to watch her son’s and grandchildren’s athletic activities.
Those left to honor her memory include her husband, James; her sons & daughters-in-law, Larry & Jody Schroeder of Eldridge and Steve & Michele Schroeder of Janesville, Wisconsin; and her grandchildren, Jason, Jamie, Kristen, Cody and Kyle.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Dorothy Henzen and her parents.
