Margie L. Byrd, 76, of LeClaire, Iowa, formerly of Olney, Illinois, passed away on Friday, June 19, 2009 at Trinity at Terrace Park, Bettendorf.
Family and friends are invited to a memorial service at the LeClaire Presbyterian Church on Wednesday, June 24, 2009 at 6:00 PM. Graveside services will be held at 1:00 P.M, Friday, June 26, 2009 at the Rock Island National Cemetery. Those wishing to attend the service should meet at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home, Bettendorf, by 12:30 P.M. on Friday. Contributions in her memory may be made to the Buffalo Bill Museum.
Margie was born on June 1, 1933, the daughter of Henry and Nell (Crouse) Hinterscher. She was united in marriage to Harold Wayne Byrd for 59 years. Margie’s interests included bingo, gardening, traveling, her family, and reading.
She volunteered her time and energy to the LeClaire Park Board, Buffalo Bill Museum, LeClaire Community Improvement Corporation and the former LeClaire Women’s Club. She was active at the LeClaire Presbyterian Church, including teaching the children’s classes.
Those left to honor her memory include her sister, Dorothy Wilson of Highland Park, Illinois; her husband, Harold Wayne; children Gloria Byrd of LeClaire, Iowa; Gary and Mary Lou Byrd of Donahue, Iowa; Larry and Pam Byrd of Dayton, Ohio; John and Loretta Yigas of Bettendorf, Iowa, and Wesley Byrd of LeClaire, Iowa; nephews David and John Wilson of Chicago, Illinois; grandchildren Nathan and Kellie Byrd, Laura Byrd and David Sufka, Maria Byrd, Sara Byrd, Alex Byrd, Frank and Gwen Fuerte, and Nick Yigas.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother Don, and a brother-in-law Charles Wilson.
