Marian R. Voelliger, 89, a resident of Senior Star at Elmore Place in Davenport, Iowa died on Sunday, August 9, 2020 at Senior Star.
A private family service will be held on Thursday, August 13, 2020 at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf. The service will be live-streamed on McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home’s Facebook page beginning at 10:00 A.M. on Thursday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Bettendorf Fire Fighter’s Association.
She was born in Knoxville, Tennessee on September 13, 1930 and was a graduate of Knoxville High School. She also attended the University of Tennessee at Knoxville. On June 3, 1951, she was united in marriage to Gerald A. Voelliger Sr. in Bettendorf. He preceded her in death on March 16, 2014.
Marian was a devoted wife, mom, grandma and great-grandma. She and Gerry enjoyed traveling the world over the years and vacationing on cruises. They enjoyed spending winters at their home in Marco Island, Florida and vacationed for many years at Flour Lake and in Grand Maris in northern Minnesota. They were avid supporters of their children and grandchildren’s events and were always there for them.
Those left to honor her memory include her sons, Gerald (Lynne) Voelliger Jr. of Bettendorf and Todd (Stacy) Voelliger of Bettendorf; her grandchildren, Ryan Voelliger of Bettendorf, Lindsay (Tommy) Spielman of Rockford, Illinois, Dillon Voelliger of Eldridge, Iowa and Joshua Voelliger of Davenport; and her great-grandson, Noah Spielman.
In addition to her husband, Marian was preceded in death by her sister, Mary Margaret and her brother, Malcolm.
