Marie O. McGinnis, 95, formerly of LeClaire, Iowa passed away Friday June 28, 2013 at Riverview Manor in Pleasant Valley, Iowa
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 P.M. on Tuesday, July 2, 2013 at Our Savior Presbyterian Church in Argo where Marie was a member. Visitation will be held from 2:00 P.M. to 3:00 P.M. on Tuesday at the church. Burial will follow services at Salem Lutheran Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Our Savior Presbyterian Church.
Marie was born in rural LeClaire on April 22, 1918, the daughter of Orvie and Ethel (Hamilton) McGinnis. She farmed with her family her entire life, and participated in church circles and Presbyterian women groups. Marie was part of the Scott County Farm Bureau and the LeClaire Women’s Club. Marie was the recipient of the Governor’s Volunteer Award in 1994 for her work at the meal-site in LeClaire.
Marie is survived by her good friends, Marie & Rudy Werderman and other distant relatives and wonderful friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; and by her brother, Earl McGinnis on August 29, 1991.
