Marilyn Chambers

Marilyn Joyce Chambers, 80, a resident of Bettendorf, Iowa died Wednesday, August 1, 2012 at her home.

Graveside services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Monday, August 6, 2012 at the Rock Island National Cemetery, Rock Island, Illinois.  Those wishing to attend should gather at the McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home, Bettendorf, Iowa at 9:15 A.M. Monday.  Visitation will be held from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on Saturday, August 4, 2012 at the McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home, Bettendorf.  Memorials may be made to the family who will donate all funds to the American Cancer Society.

Marilyn was born March 31, 1932 in Oskaloosa, Iowa the daughter of Ernest and Hazel (Simpkins) Powers.  She was united in marriage to Keith E. Chambers in Oskaloosa on January 21, 1951.

Marilyn was a very active member of the Bettendorf Christian Church, Bettendorf.  She enjoyed writing poems, painting and spending time with her grandchildren.

Those left to honor her memory include her daughter, Debra Stephens, Bettendorf; her son, Dan (Xinia) Chambers, Irvine, California; her grandchildren, Joshua, Zachary, Brandi, Jeremy, Justin, Daniela, Lorena and Sofia; her great granddaughter, Zara; her sister, Evelyn (Dick) Stephen, Sioux City, Iowa and Patti (Bill) Cleland, Oskaloosa; her special friends, Donald and Norma Jones, Bettendorf and her many other church friends.

In addition to her husband, Keith, she was preceded in death by her son, Douglas Chambers, her brothers, Carroll “Ernie” Powers and Kenneth Powers and her sisters, Donna Cubit, Arlene Emmons and Margaret Stought.
