Marilyn H. Gravert, 77, of DeWitt, died Tuesday, May 26, 2015 at Genesis Medical Center, East Campus in Davenport.
Per Marilyn’s wishes, her body has been donated to the University of Iowa Deeded Body Program.
A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, June 4, 2015 at Park View Lutheran Church in Park View, Iowa. The family will receive friends one hour before the service on Thursday at the church. Memorials may be made to the Share and Care Christian Preschool at Park View Lutheran Church.
Marilyn was born November 30, 1937 in DeWitt, the daughter of Frank F. & Sarah (Luebker) Gravert. She taught mathematics in Albia, Iowa and then taught military children throughout the world, including Germany and Okinawa, Japan. In later years, she was a substitute teacher for the North Scott School District.
Marilyn had travelled extensively and had kept in close contact with her extended family.
Those left to honor her memory include her nieces, Debra (John) Smith of Donahue and Patricia (Ted) Claeys of DeWitt; her nephew, Doug (Karma) Hinkle of DeWitt; several other nieces and nephews; and a great-niece, Karla (Dan) Marti of DeWitt.
Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents; her sisters, Frances, Marlene and Mildred; and her brothers, Alvin, Eldin, Edward and Bill.
