Marilyn Lease

Marilyn J. Lease, 90, of Bettendorf, died Thursday, June 16, 2016 at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House in Bettendorf.

Funeral services celebrating her life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 21, 2016 at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf. Burial will be at Davenport Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday. Memorials may be made to Camp Courageous. Marilyn was born on May 14, 1926 in Davenport. In 1978, she married Richard H. Lease. He preceded her in death on January 10, 2015.

Marilyn worked as a bookkeeper for various businesses and also worked as a waitress for the Park Café in the Village of East Davenport. Marilyn was a dedicated volunteer, giving 50 years to the former St. Luke’s Hospital and now Genesis Medical Center; also volunteering for Toys for Tots, Hoover School Reading Program, Bettendorf VFW Auxiliary and CASI. She was an avid bowler and golfer and enjoyed traveling.

Those left to honor her memory include her son, Michael (Jami) Borgus of Davenport; grandchildren, Dirk, Erik, Sara and Karl; great-grandchildren, Sophia and Ainslee and two more on the way; sister, Rowena Rich of Clearfield, Pennsylvania and a brother, Douglas Schutte of Blue Grass.

In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by her mother, Lauretta Beckmann.
