Marilyn Paulsen

Marilyn J. (Remer) Beguhn Paulsen, 82, of Davenport, passed away on Sunday, February 25, 2018 at Crest Health Center in Davenport.

A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, March 3, 2018 in the Koning Chapel at Ridgecrest Village in Davenport.  A luncheon and visitation will follow the service.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Ridgecrest Foundation to support nursing scholarships.

Marilyn was born December 28, 1935 in Davenport, a daughter of Arthur H. & Lillian V. (Trendel) Remer.

A 1954 graduate of Davenport High School, Marilyn graduated from Bussells Beauty School in 1956 and had worked for 6 years with Virginia’s Beauty Salon.  She had also worked part-time for the Davenport School District from 1977 to 1981.

Marilyn was united in marriage to James L. Beguhn on May 27, 1961.  He preceded her in death on August 9, 1974.  She later was united in marriage to Robert J. Paulsen on December 19, 1980.  He preceded her in death on October 30, 2009.

Marilyn had volunteered with the Mississippi Valley Regional Blood Center and with West Wing Place in DeWitt.  Her hobbies included stained glass artwork and assorted crafts, crocheting, sewing and playing cards.  She enjoyed wintering in Texas for several years as well.

Those left to honor Marilyn’s memory include her daughter, Renee (Mike) Coffman of Dixon, Iowa; her son, Bruce (Christine) Beguhn of Granger, Iowa; her grandchildren, Taylor, Logan, Lindsey, Heather, Mikey and Jacob; her brothers, Arthur Remer and James Remer; Robert’s children, Steven Paulsen, Russell (Mary) Paulsen and William (Nancy) Paulsen; their children, Robert, Gary, Joe, Matthew, Mike, Tavia, Ben, Nina and Nichole; and numerous great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husbands, Marilyn was preceded in death by her brother, Kenneth Remer.
