Marilyn Seibel, of Riverdale, Iowa passed away at the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House in Bettendorf on Sunday December 8, 2013.  McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home, Bettendorf is assisting the family.  As per her wishes there will be cremation and private burial service.

She was born in Oakville, Iowa.  Her parents were James and Ella Mellinger.  She married Robert E. Halverson in Davenport in 1949 and John W. Seibel in 1956 in Bettendorf.  John and Marilyn owned and operated the Par Four Club in Bettendorf for many years.

Those sadly left behind are her two loving children; her son David (Amy) Halverson, her daughter Sue (Bill) Rider, all of Pleasant Valley;  her grandchildren, Kristine (Drew) Stull, Bettendorf, Brittney Halverson, Iowa City, and Lynn Rider, Pleasant Valley; her great-grandson Colin Stull of Bettendorf;  one loving sister, Annette Peart of Louisville, Kentucky; two dear brothers, Robert Lee (Bonnie) Davis, La Feria, Texas and DeVon (Grace) Mellinger, Burlington, Iowa; her sister-in-law, Gayle Seibel, Placentia, California; and many wonderful friends and great neighbors and several loving nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; her two brothers, James D. Mellinger, Central City, Iowa and Neil Mellinger of Amarillo, Texas; her sister-in-law, Anne O’Neill, Phoenix, Arizona; and brother-in-law, Frank Seibel, Placentia, California.

Marilyn cherished the time spent with her family and her precious grandchildren.  Many happy memories were made at Grandma’s.

The family wishes that memorials be made to the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House.  There will be a celebration of life gathering on Friday December 13, from 4-8 p.m. at Fumbles Bar and Grill in Bettendorf.
