Marilyn A. Nowachek, 76, of Bettendorf, died Tuesday, June 5, 2007 at Bettendorf Healthcare Center, Bettendorf.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, June 9, 2007 at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home, Bettendorf. Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M., Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to Autism Research.
Marilyn was born November 5, 1930 in Davenport, the daughter of Arthur & Gertrude (Fleischer) Hull. She was a graduate of Davenport High School. She was united in marriage to Robert Nowachek on August 17, 1954 in Davenport. He preceded her in death on December 7, 1996.
Marilyn was employed as a bookkeeper for Kraft Foods in Milan, Illinois for 15 years and as a caseworker for the Iowa Department of Human Services for 14 years before retiring. She was an accomplished musician and was a member of Musicians Local Union. She played accordion and organ at many fine establishments around the Quad-Cities.
She also enjoyed buffets, sewing, crocheting, bingo, and spending time with her grandchildren. She was a coupon queen extraordinaire, holding up check-out lines for hours.
Those left to honor her memory include her daughters, Robin Benjamin and her husband, Fred, of Birmingham, Alabama, Margaret Nowachek of North Glenn, Colorado, Monica Strief of North Glenn and Alicia Nicholas and her husband, Danny, of Birmingham; her sons, Bryan Nowachek and his wife, Maureen, of Davenport, Steve Nowachek of St. Charles, Illinois, and Todd Nowachek and his wife, Lisa, of Aurora, Illinois; her grandchildren, Elisha & Issac Benjamin, Erin & Seth Nicholas, Sarah Hartman, Sam Nowachek, Lindsay & Christopher Nowachek, and Jeffrey & Katrina Nowachek; and her sister, Carol Haskett.
In addition to her husband, Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents; and by her sister, Shirley Mosley.
