Marion Elizabeth Sullivan Larson, 90, a life-long resident of Rock Island, Illinois peacefully passed away in her sleep during the first snow of winter on Monday, December 1, 2008.
A service to celebrate her life will be held at 10:30 A.M. Friday, December 5, 2008 at the McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Chapel in Bettendorf. She will be laid to rest at Rock Island Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. Thursday at the funeral home. Contributions in her memory may be made to the Citizens to Preserve Black Hawk Park Foundation in care of Black Hawk State Historic Site of Rock Island, Illinois, Big Brothers-Big Sisters or Trinity Hospice.
She was born September 13, 1918 in Moline, Illinois, the daughter of James Henry & Elizabeth Louise (Pruessing) Sullivan.
Marion co-founded the Larson Funeral Homes and faithfully served a multitude of families for many years. Her compassion for helping others, her generosity and her uplifting spirit were felt by many. She was active in many community organizations & activities throughout her life. Her interests very many & varied including gardening, wildlife, the environment and the preservation and respect of nature.
Those left to honor her memory include her beloved children, grandchildren & great-grandchildren.
She lost her beloved daughter, Betsy Jean Larson Anderson in 1976,
