Marion J. “Mary Jane” Fickel, 74, of Princeton, Iowa, passed away on Saturday, June 4, 2005 at Genesis Medical Center, East Campus, Davenport. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M., Wednesday, June 8, 2005 at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Chapel, Bettendorf. Visitation will be from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M., Tuesday evening at the funeral home. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to the Genesis Heart Institute, Davenport.
Mary Jane was born September 6, 1930 in Bismarck, North Dakota, the daughter of Peter & Laura (Grabinger) Thompson. She was united in marriage to Eldon “Bud” Fickel on June 7, 1952 in Davenport.
Mary Jane was employed at Republic Electric of Davenport for several years. More notably, she was devoted to her home and her family. She enjoyed sewing, coffee with her neighbors, and spending time with her granddaughter, Morgan, who was a special joy in her life.
Those left to honor her memory include her husband, Bud; her daughter and son-in-law, Teri Fickel & Barry Bowker, of Princeton; her grandchildren, Morgan Bowker and Jeremy Fickel; her sisters, Gerry Gapinski, of Minnesota, Loretta Buchheit and her husband, Bill, of LeClaire, Iowa, and Darlene “Babe” Bremmer, and her husband, Gene, of Minnesota; her brothers, Loren “Bud” Thompson, and his wife, Janie, of Arkansas, and Patrick “Butch” Thompson, and his wife, Laurie, of Minnesota.
Mary Jane was preceded in death by her parents; her son Michael, her daughter, Lynette Ann, and her sisters, Arlene and Delores.
